Hello and welcome!
Well I'm back from New York and my stint Off Broadway, and what a time it was! We were treated royally, were packed every night and met some amazing people along the way. The whole experience was fantastic, topped off with hearty applause, standing ovations and calls of bravo! But the audiences were anything but easy: keeping me on my feet every night, meaning that each show was simply, and necessarily, unique, exactly the way it's meant to be. Very draining, but very rewarding. If you'd like to read the reviews, I've posted them up alongside the British ones, so feel free to compare and contrast... But a quick highlight:
This from TheatreisEasy.com:
'Actor Saul Jaffe's ability to multi-task is astounding. Clearly supported by his clean stage technique and careful attention to detail, Jaffe moves seamlessly between characters, endowing each with individual behaviors and audibly distinguishable voices. To achieve such a level of believability without the benefits of elaborate costumes and make-up is remarkable.'
And this from Showbusinessweekly.com:
'These deeply human aspects of Joseph Merrick make this familiar story fresh. Merrick emerges as a man of great sensitivity, wit and character: a gentleman in the truest sense.'
